Clinical features

Symptoms of athlete’s foot may include itchy white patches between the toes, sore and flaky patches on the feet, redness (less noticeable on darker skin tones), cracked or bleeding skin, and fluid-filled blisters. Severe cases may lead to fungal nail infections if left untreated.

Clinical features of athlete’s foot often manifest as moist, peeling skin between the toes, discoloration, thickened skin, painful fissures, and an unpleasant odor. While typically mild, severe cases may indicate secondary bacterial infection.
