Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition characterized by the presence of clearly defined, red, and scaly plaques. These plaques can appear on various parts of the body, including the elbows, knees, scalp, and lower back. The condition affects about 2–4% of the population globally and can manifest at any age, with peak incidences occurring between the ages of 20 to 30 and 50 to 60. Psoriasis affects men and women equally and can vary greatly in severity, from minor irritation to significant impact on quality of life.
