Acne Keloidalis Nuchae
Folliculitis keloidalis, also known as folliculitis keloidalis nuchae, is a chronic form of folliculitis (inflammation of the hair follicle unit) and cicatricial alopecia (scarring hair loss) that typically affects the nape of the neck. This condition is sometimes referred to as acne keloidalis nuchae or acne keloidalis, although these names can be misleading since folliculitis keloidalis is not a type of acne, and the resulting scars are not true keloids. This can cause confusion, especially as acne can lead to keloid scarring.
Who Gets Folliculitis Keloidalis?
Folliculitis keloidalis is more prevalent among dark-skinned individuals, particularly adult Afro-Caribbean males with black curly hair. It is 20 times more common in males than in females.
